TOUR ITINERARY

1

The Neck Lookout

The Neck is a thin section of land (also known as an isthmus) that connects the north and south regions of Bruny Island – kind of like a neck, hence the name. A vital habitat for native wildlife, The Neck hosts multiple viewing platforms and boardwalks where you can view some of the flora and fauna including little penguins heading home to their burrows at dusk. The Neck Lookout provides an amazing observation point where you have a 360-degree view of Bruny Island and the surrounding waters. It truly is a magical sight to behold. There’s also a campground with parking, picnic areas and toilets facility super close to the beach so you can stay as long as you like in this wonderful part of the world.

2

Bruny Island Premium Wines

Since 1998 the family-run Bruny Island Premium Wines vineyard has been providing premium, handcrafted wines and delectable produce to locals and tourists alike. Located on the outskirts of the Lunawanna settlement, the vineyard is surrounded by native bushlands and pastures. Boasting over 40 medals in wine shows Australia-wide and globally, you can count on finding a tasty drop to suit even the most serious wine connoisseurs. Wine varieties include Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. Their fresh, seasonal food is sustainably sourced from local farmers and they also have the only cider range hand crafted on Bruny Island.

3

Get Shucked Oyster

When you visit Get Shucked, you’re in for a truly authentic oyster experience. The oyster farm is connected to the fully licensed oyster bar – you can’t get much fresher than that! They call it “bay-to-bar” dining and it’s nothing short of a full-on aquaculture feast. To complement the oysters, Get Shucked offer a wide range of Tasmania’s finest wines, sparkling, beers and ciders. If you’re in a rush you don’t even have to dine in, just pop through the world’s first oyster drive through and pick up as many tasty morsels as your heart desires.

4

Bruny Island Lighthouse

Set atop a rocky hill at the southernmost tip of Bruny Island, the Cape Bruny Lighthouse has stood for over 150 years. Originally commissioned by Governor George Arthur in 1835, the lighthouse was built by a team of convicts and constructed from dolerite quarried in the local region. It was first lit in March 1838 and has stood proudly since. The lighthouse was a welcome addition to the island due to the wild seas around the Tasmanian coastline. Over 400 shipwrecks are scattered around the coast, with even more prevented by the instalment of the Cape Bruny Lighthouse. Amazing views and breathtaking photo opportunities of the Southern Ocean and the Wild Tasman Sea await you at this spectacular location.
