Downhill, cross-country skiing or snowboarding, there are a range of magnificent ski resorts to choose from and a wide range of ski courses to suit visitors at different levels. 

With a splendid array of restaurants and entertainments at your fingertips, Melbourne offers the ultimate snowy winter holiday. Let  kids enjoy a friendly snowball fight or take part in snowman contest. Even if you are seeing snow for the first time, there is something for you. The ski resorts in Victoria are generally open from early July to early September. For actual opening dates, please check the snow cams and snow report provided by each ski resort.

Lake Mountain is the closest ski resort to Melbourne, a great place for families to see the snow, enjoy a snowball fight or snowman making. Kids will love toboggan rides down the hill over one of the 7 runs. In addition, there are a number of cross-country skiing courses available. Your Lake Mountain day trip will traverse through the beautiful Yarra Valley en route to the ski resort.

Mount Buller is Australia’s most popular and accessible ski resort, located three and a half hours drive from Melbourne CBD. Every year it attracts a huge number of local and international ski enthusiasts. The twenty-two lifts and conveyor belts can transfer up to 40,000 skiers per hour. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced ski lover, there is always a course to suit your level. In addition, the resort hosts many competitive sports and social events during snow season.

Mount Buller Village is situated next to the ski fields. with more than 7,000 on-mountain beds and 30 restaurants and bars to fill your hunger, why not spend a night in one of the many chalets and hotels in the village? In addition, the village offers a variety of activities to keep families entertained, such as: cinema, Gnome Roam adventure, Australia’s highest day spa, helicopter flight and etc.

Our vehicle would transfer you to the bus stop located at mid-level. Visitors can then choose to take the resort bus (free of charge) or snow taxi up to the village.

Mount Baw Baw is the closest downhill ski resort to Melbourne, it boasts a number of pristine courses for downhill and cross-country skiing. There are also tobogganing and huskies sledding to choose from. For beginners, take a ski lesson and let an experienced coach show you the ropes. For pro skiers, Mount Baw Baw has a 9 x 15 meter inflatable cushion behind a two meter jump to practice your next perfect move in the air. 

The resort offers something for everyone, while grown-ups enjoy a luxurious spa on the mountain, kids can have their ultimate snowy experience outdoors. A range of accomodation and dining options available for multi-day ski trippers.

Mount Donna Buang

Distance from Melbourne: 2 hours each way

Highest altitude: 1245 m

There is no skiable area on Mt Donna Buang, however in winter, considerable snow precipitation on the summit has drawn many local families over, children enjoy snowplay and tobogganing on the mountain. Your Mt Donna Buang day tour will take you through the beautiful Yarra Valley, you may even consider to add wine tasting or the popular chocolaterie in your snowy adventure itinerary.

Mt Hotham is perfect for a multi-day snowy vacation, being one of the highest ski resorts in Australia, Mt Hotham has downhill runs up to 2.5 kilometers long, the 13 chairlifts and conveyor belts can transfer over 24,000 people per hour. Its higher altitude also provides visitors more natural snow to ski on.

The resort has a myriad of runs to suit skiers at different levels and a designated ski area for kids aged 3 to 14 years old,  ski lessons and private tutorials available to take your skill to the next level. In addition, you can take a helicopter ride to enjoy aerial views of Mt Hotham and surrounding mountains or take delight in Siberian Husky sledding. With more than 20 restaurants and bars in the village and sauna and spa facility, Mt Hotham will keep you busy for your retreat.

Falls Creek is the largest ski resort in Victoria and Australia’s home to cross-country skiing. With a number of ski-in/ski-out accommodations in the village and more than 5,000 beds, you will certainly find something that matches your group. The 65 km of cross country ski trail is the official training ground for the Australian national team. In addition, the resort annually hosts Kangaroo Hoppet, the largest snow sports event in the southern hemisphere. There are a range of training programs to suit kids as young as 3 years of age to adults at different experience levels. In addition, There are many recreational activities, such as: snow bocce, snow bikes, tubing, night skiing at Wombats Ramble and fireworks show every Thursday night.
